God Made A Dog | Pet Pen Pals

Humans Finally Got It Right!

So I was pawing through the internet when I came across this little video about dogs. I have to say, it kind of made me mist up a little to realize that humans finally get us. The video speaks for itself. Woof!

What is a Basenji? | Pet Pen Pals

People always ask our owners “What is a Basenji?” when they first meet us. They say many things like, “Is their tail always curly?” or “Their ears look like very alert.” and some say “Do they bark? They sure are quiet dogs.”

And of course our mom and dad will answer all the questions, again and again when they met someone new. I found a video on YouTube from Animal Planet that does a pretty good job of explaining our breed. Here, take a look yourself. http://youtu.be/uG3EHbVWfxk

I would have embedded the video but AP disabled that feature for this video. Enjoy!

Eric & Nya — A Walk in The Park | Pet Pen Pals

Mom and dad went on vacation and left Roux and me at the kennel. Yeah it was a nice kennel but when we heard that they went to a park and took a walk with another dog. Now that is just wrong! Leaving your dogs for a walk with ANOTHER dog! Wrong, wrong, wrong!

OK, dad was working doing a pet portrait session but really? C’mon… we could have been of to the side just doing our own thing. Nope. Not the case. And we didn’t even get a T-Shirt from Washington, DC where they visited. They visited a good friend Eric and his dog Nya. Below is a video of the images he took while out on their walk. If you want to see the all the images, check this link.

Happy Birthday Pancakes | Pet Pen Pals

Yesterday was another birthday for Roux & me. Can you believe it? It has been eight years since we came into mom & dad’s life and well, pretty much overtook it. Yes, we own them but shhhhh, don’t let them know. They like to think they own us. We let them have their pipe dream!

Anyway mom and dad took us on a long walk in the subdivision this morning and then when we returned, mom made us birthday pancakes. Woof woof! Yeah.

There are certain sounds we know and these are what we heard this morning to indicate pancakes. The sounds of a mixer and the clank of the griddle being placed on the counter. The tick, tick of the griddle as it is heating up. SMACK! Oh, sorry, that was an involuntary smack as I recount the fun and anticipation form this morning.

Anyway, so there was a little mishap with the pancake batter dispenser. It kind of fell off the counter and well…. we like pancake batter when it’s cooked or not. Roux wasn’t as lucky as I was because she was splattered with the toppling dispenser.

While mom and dad were busy on clean up duty, we cleaned up the floor where most of the batter fell. It also went on the counter, the refrigerator, etc. We told them not to worry, we had the floor and were “handling it.”

Clean up done, mom put on the cakes. Sniff, sniff, sniff. Can you smell the cakes? Mmmmmmm, we were in heaven waiting for the cakes to cook. Oooo, I can hear them sizzle. Well, not really but it makes for a good story doesn’t it? So finally, they were done and mom let them cool enough so we could have them.

Happy Birthday Boudreaux!

Bellies full we decided to take a nap. Long walks and pancakes are such a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.

Woof woof!

5 Reasons Why I Like The Country | Pet Pen Pals

Ah, smell that? Well I do. Thousands of them. I’m talking about smells of the country.

We’re spending a few days in the country getting back to our roots. No, not Roux and me. Mom and dad. Actually mostly mom. She grew up in the country and most of her family still live here. Yesterday, we spent Thanksgiving with her 92 year old grandmother and most of her immediate family.

After lunch we took a walk in the pastures. Sniff, Sniff, Sniff, Sniff, Ah, Sniff, Sniff, Sniff… that pretty much sums up the walk. Oh, except when Roux tried to roll in a cow pattie! Mom wouldn’t let Roux roll in it so we could “savor the flavor” later. She wouldn’t even let us rustle us some cattle over in the back pasture. Spoil sport she was.

After our walk we came upon some of the family playing football in the back yard. Dad was snapping pictures of the fun so we took a rest by a tree and watched. A little while later he focused the camera our way. He compiled a quick video of the pictures. Have a look. Let us know what you think. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, the 5 reasons I like the country:
